Donkey Kong, originally released in arcades by Nintendo in 1981, is a classic platform game where players guide the titular ape through various levels to rescue Pauline from the clutches of the villainous Mario. Its simple yet addictive gameplay, featuring iconic characters and instantly recognizable visuals, quickly established it as a landmark title in gaming history.  The Atari 7800 port, while not as graphically impressive as the arcade original, preserved the core gameplay and cemented Donkey Kong's legacy on a new platform.
