Tomb Raider (1997, Playstation version) is a landmark action-adventure title that redefined the genre for many. Lara Croft's debut on Playstation introduced her iconic character design, gameplay combining exploration, puzzle-solving, and combat.  The game's environments, while relatively simple by modern standards, were stunning for its time.  Core Design developed the game, which became an instant success leading to numerous sequels and media adaptations.  Its influence is still felt in modern action-adventure games.
