Shadow of the Beast is a side-scrolling beat 'em up game originally released for the Amiga in 1989. Its dark fantasy setting, cinematic presentation, and brutal violence were groundbreaking for its time. The game features challenging gameplay, requiring precise timing and strategic use of attacks. The Sega Genesis port, released in 1990, retained much of the original's atmosphere and difficulty while adapting the visuals for the system. Psygnosis was the original developer and publisher.
